An Associate Degree in Human Resources or Human Resource Management prepares you for a career working in a company performing various duties such as hiring, training and overseeing the development of the company's employee resources. The Human Resource Department of a company makes sure that the internal policies, regulations and laws of employment are fair and humane.

Earning a degree in Human Resource Management prepares you for motivating employees and making sure that they are compensated fairly. You will be able to listen to employee's concerns with a good sense of business and a degree of compassion. You will learn to communicate effectively and analyse the situation effectively. The Human Resource Administrator maintains a high regard for confidentiality and follows regulations brought forth by the federal and state governments.

The Human Resource Department of a company is where decisions are made about compensation as well as laws governing the practices in the company. HR people will also work with OSHA when the company has any accidents or when OSHA needs to see the workplace and the conditions. The HR person is responsible for making sure that everything in the company is running smoothly and employees are treated accordingly.

Insurance and worker's compensation benefits are also taken care of by a Human Resource agent. You will be responsible for filing proper paperwork for personal and work related insurance.  The associated degree in Human Resources allows you to be involved in many aspects of a company.

The Associate Degree in Human Resources or Human Resource Management will require sixty-eight credits divided into four terms. The classes required may vary from college to college. Nevertheless, you will have to take Human resource Management, HR Informational Systems, HR Payroll Applications, Human Resource Employment Law and Written Communication. You will also take Math with Business Applications, Economics, and Financial Analysis for HR, Compensation and Benefits Administration and Recruitment and Retention of Employees.

The associate degree will also require Introduction to Psychology, Labor Relations and Negotiations, Strategic Performance Management and Race, Ethnic and Diversity Studies. Customer Service Techniques is also a class that will teach you how to deal with the needs of the employee, healing customer relations and how to effectively connect with employees or customers.
